How to be a parent in a modern era

It is no wonder that the parenting skills required to correspond to the generation alpha might differ from those of 50 years back because of the dynamism and environmental changes.

Parenting remains quite an essential component in any family. Some advanced societies go forward to mix politics and family on the resonance of the measurement of governance capability. In the United States, Presidents are expected to bring a unique perspective to parenting and family matters.

The US politicians aspiring to run the country must be questioned on how they are parenting their infants. For instance, when Sen. Michael Bennet was contesting for senatorial positions in 2019, family matters were raised. “When Bennet is in Washington or on the campaign trail, his wife Susan takes primary responsibility for the girls. When he is home, they share duties. And the girls often join them on the trail. This past weekend, Susan and the two youngest girls joined Michael on his trip to Iowa. Past Bennet campaigns have always been family affairs, with Susan and the girls frequently joining Michael on the road,” a campaign spokesperson said.

Being a parent has seemed more complicated, particularly during the pandemic, with parents becoming busier while handling regular questions that come up with complex family matters. On the other hand, it is important to prioritize juggling responsibilities and the needs of the children at home.

Meanwhile, for the past 50 years, parenting styles have faced different struggles in raising their kids. Whether it is the 21st century or whether they reared Generation X or Xennials, they are running the commitment to fulfilling parental obligations. However, in many ways, modern parents are always looking for new ways to raise their children. With the resourceful information from blogs, parenting books, social media, and sources of information, modern parents are always open to learning new ways to raise their kids.

“There is no standard for good parenting, but scientists and child psychologists have unceasingly dived deep to find what lies beneath the secrets of raising a happy child. The most influential parenting voices these days are the tribe. It’s the aggregation of parents and professionals you listen to on Facebook or Twitter,” Wendy Sue Swanson, an American Paediatrician.

Modern parenting is momentary shifting as the majority of couples prefer to have no children and are seemingly happy with it.

Only 40% of men and 33% of women in the 2018 American Family Survey by the Desert News believed that having children was necessary for living a fulfilling life.

The study also revealed that only 40% of men and 33% of women believed having children was necessary for leading a satisfying life. While getting married is no longer a requirement for couples who plan to have children, it is still a good idea.

More children are being raised by a single parent due to the development of reproductive technology, which has made it simpler to have children without a spouse.

Statistics showed in 1960, just 9 per cent of kids were raised by a single parent. In 2013, the number jumped to 34 per cent.
